CUETO: I THOUGHT MY CAREER WAS OVER
In February’s International Rugby News, Sale and England wing Mark Cueto reveals the day he thought he would never recover from the injury hell that he went through after the 2007 World Cup.
Cuteo was recalled to Martin Johnson’s 32-man elite squad in January after chalking up six tries in his last five Guinness Premiership games for his club having finally cured his back problems.
But as little as six months ago, he was contemplating the end of his rugby career.
“I remember that day like it was yesterday,” said Cueto, recalling the last time he broke down in pre-season training.
“Walking off the field thinking, ‘this is it, it’s 20th time I’ve broken down, no one knows what the problem is, no one knows how to fix it. Am I ever going to be fit to play a professional game of rugby again?’”
